Last exam & WordPress vs. Typo3 & my new Website

Today is/was an amazing day. I have written my LAST, my very last exam. I can’t believe it. During my studies there were approximately 45 exams to pass, and now all are done & gone.

I am looking forward to the next couple of days. We (Bene, Fina, Flo) will have some fun – I guess. Also I am planning to investigate some more time to WordPress. I am going to switch from Typo3, which is an professional content management system to WordPress (actually what you see here right now!)

Why? Typo3 is a gigantic software bundle, perfect for big sites. I built my site 4 years ago with Typo3 and spent weeks to have it nicely set up. I am tiered of spending too much time on software, I want to provide content. Currently I need/want changes. My intention is having a flexible and small platform to publish my articles and weblogs, including my image gallery. Here we go … Micha told me about WordPress, and I had a look. After I figured out, that it is an extremely small and flexible tool, I decided to give it a try. Nevertheless, if you are a professional, you better go with Typo3. It is much more powerful, but you need to spend more time with the system itself. Typo3 is a CMS and WordPress is “only” a blogging system, which can be extended easily as you see!

Result of WordPress? I am very happy. The layout and functionality was configured quickly (compared to Typo3) and Gallery2 (my favourite image gallery software) was also plugged in within an hour. I will test it the next weeks, but my experience so far is really good. Perfect for my needs, nice to modify and hack ;-)

    Hey Markus,
