About

Hi!

I am currently a PhD student (molecular biology) at the University of Cambridge (UK) and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. I graduated as an engineer from the University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan (Munich) where I studied Bioinformatics, comprising about 40% Biology, 40% Informatics and 20% Engineering courses. In Germany, the difference between a classic University and the Applied Sciences Universities is that the former is research oriented and the latter industry driven. During my studies I enjoyed two 6 month internships to work as part of international Bioinformatics teams abroad. Before my studies I worked in industry for four years as an electronics engineer.
